Watchmaking
in the Jura
THE INFLUENCE OF THE WATCHMAKING HERITAGE OF THE JURA ARC
A Franco-Swiss watchmaking heritage
Since 2020, Maison Alcée has taken up the challenge of combining the world of excellent craftsmanship in the Jura Arc, with the aspiration to do it yourself by a generation in search of authenticity.
DECEMBER 2020
The watchmaking and mechanical know-how of the Franco-Swiss Jura Arc has been inscribed on the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Maison Alcée has set itself the goal of perpetuating this watchmaking heritage, present in France and Switzerland, from the design to the manufacture of the components of its timepieces.
FALL 2022
A first box set is launched called Persée, a clock to be assembled with one’s own hands from components designed and shaped in the Jura Arc by and for Maison Alcée. An adventure that brings together the best partnerships in the Franco-Swiss Jura Arc.
“Maison Alcée has been the birthplace of an innovative concept that has aroused enthusiasm since its inception.”
The tradition of excellence dates back to the sixteenth century in this region, at the time of the Calvinist Reformation, which considered science and technology as a noble field, as opposed to the ornamental arts. The Jura Arc is a subtle mix of science, art and technology. This splendid region of the Jura located in France, shares with its Swiss neighbour a reputation for unrivalled quality. UNESCO was not mistaken since, since December 2020, the know-how of the Jura Arc in watchmaking mechanics and art mechanics has been inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
WATCHMAKING IN THE JURA, A PRECIOUS HERITAGE
A watchmaking treasure listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site
Localizing the manufacture and production of the components of our timepieces in the Franco-Swiss Jura Arc was important to us. We are proud to have taken up this challenge, which promises an unrivalled degree of precision and finesse, as opposed to easy choices. This immediately places your Persée clock in the mythical legend of Jura mechanical watchmaking, a know-how honored by UNESCO.

MANUFACTURING CARRIED OUT IN THE JURA ARC
The Jura, the cradle of watchmaking
The Maison works with around thirty local manufacturing partners, more than 90% of which are located in the Franco-Swiss Jura Arc. The French and Swiss know-how of the watchmaking industry is thus perpetuated by nearly a hundred indirect jobs dedicated to the design of our Persée.
Just like the watch components in your box, your screwdrivers are also 100% made in the Franco-Swiss Jura Arc! Their blades have been specially developed in an unannealed Copper-Beryllium alloy to reduce hardness and thus limit the risk of scratches. This is the first time that this manufacturing partner has opted for such a solution, which will reduce the service life of the board but protect the work.
The Maison strives to preserve and magnify the Franco-Swiss tradition. Our ambition is to transmit this heritage and watchmaking know-how through exceptional timepieces, thus perpetuating the precious heritage of the Jura Arc.
